Everyday Prevention

We understand that the Head Lice problem starts in schools and can be frustrating when the source of the Head Lice is unknown. Anyone – especially kids can come in to contact with someone else and contract lice. Educating families on Head Lice and ways to minimise the risk from kids getting Head Lice back is what we pride ourselves on.

With years of experience in the industry, we strongly recommend the following Prevention be acted on daily for all families, especially kids in school, anyone who works with kids, when visiting family members and being in contact with someone who may have Head Lice.

We offer the service of a Head Lice Screening whereby you will be assessed for any signs of Lice or eggs. The quicker Head Lice is treated, can decrease the risk of it spreading through any household members.

  • It is highly suggested that after the Head Lice treatment that you purchase the Anti-Lice Leave In Prevention. This product, used daily, acts as a protective shield against further head lice infestations.

  • Keep your child’s hair up preferably in a bun or plait as loose hair increases the chances of it coming into contact with another person’s hair and transmitting Head Lice.

  • You can’t isolate a child from school, so you need to be diligent in search for signs of head lice.

Immediate Action after Treatment

Please keep in mind: Lice and nits cannot survive the treatment. They are dead within minutes of applying the treatment. Cleaning must be done after the treatment to ensure there are no Live Lice in your Home Environment.
Head lice in your environment: To be absolutely sure that there is no head lice in your immediate environment, we highly recommend that you have all your family members assessed and treated if required. Most people are unaware that they can contract head lice immediately upon sitting on any of these surfaces if the recommended home care hasn’t been done.

Home Care

All surfaces in the house that have come into contact with the head, including couches, pillows, and mattresses, must be vacuumed first before being sprayed with the Anti-Lice Upholstery Spray.

Hair Ties and Hair Brushes

Hair brushes and hair ties need to be sterilised in hot water and thoroughly cleaned of any hair remanets. Once clean you can spray with Anti-Lice Upholstery Spray, however we highly suggest immediate replacement of all brushes and hair ties to eliminate lice from your home environment.

Clothes and Linen

Wash all clothing and linen including bedding and towels used in the last 4 days in hot water and laundry detergent. Use the dryer to dry all clothes as heat can also kill lice.

Leather Surfaces

Spray and wipe all leather surfaces with the Anti-Lice Upholstery Spray to rid all lice and hair remnants that may be present on these surfaces.

Educating your children on ways to prevent catching Head Lice can help the spread from happening in the first place!

  • Any contact of Head-to-Head or Shoulder-to-Shoulder can create an opportunity for Live Lice to crawl across. Ensuring your child’s hair is tied up can minimise the chance of it spreading.

  • Ensuring your child doesn’t share their items including hats, hair accessories, helmets and towels by always making sure they have there own at school.

  • Stay diligent for any indication of your child becoming irritated from itching or any sores that can appear on your child’s head, neck or ear area.

  • Head Lice can happen to anyone regardless of climate, cleanliness, or socioeconomic status. They are entirely dependent on human hosts to feed on human blood from the scalp.

How long can Head Lice live off the head?

Head Lice can live off the head and on a surface for 2 days. Therefore you need to ensure that you thoroughly clean your home environment or you can contract head lice within the first day.

Should everyone in the household get checked?

To be absolutely sure that there is no Head Lice in your immediate environment, we highly recommend that you have all your family members screened and treated if required.

How many eggs can lice lay?

A lice can lay up to 6 eggs a day, so the number of eggs in your head will indicate how many and how long a lice has been in your hair.

Can we Guarantee they won’t get Head Lice again?
